Bathtub lifters are now available in many different designs and with very different equipment. Thus, of course, the budget that we present to you in this article must be quite rough. The very classic model with a seat frame, for example, can be purchased in a simple version from around 200 euros. Of course, you shouldn’t expect a lot of comfort or luxury from a product in this price range. Devices of exquisite quality can easily cost up to 1,500 euros.

The bath pillow is somewhere in between: You can find something from 800 euros, but you can also spend up to 2,000 euros for a more luxurious model.

At first glance, you would probably not expect a cloth lift to be the most expensive of the bathtub lifts. The construction looks pretty simple on the surface. But it has it all. After all, the tape must be extremely stable and very solidly attached so that it meets the high demands on security.

In addition, of course, there are also the costs for the assembly, if you want to have this carried out by a specialist company.

Buying a used bath lift – not always a good idea

Of course, in view of the sometimes very high costs, some people also think about looking for a used bathtub lift. You will soon find what you are looking for on ebay.de or other classified ads providers, for example. However, you should be aware that you are mostly buying a pig in a poke here. Reliable information about how intensively the item has been used and what quirks it has is rarely available here. This is not always a good idea for a device that has to meet high security requirements.

If you are already needed, then perhaps it would be better to fall back on a reduced-price offer from a relevant specialist shop. There you can sometimes buy second-hand goods or a disused exhibit very cheaply. But here, too, you should always ask whether a warranty is guaranteed in the event of damage.

In general, however, we recommend that you always contact your health insurance company first before you consider buying a used bathtub lift: Ask your health insurance company whether the costs will be covered or subsidies will be granted. It is obvious that you are always better served with a brand new bathtub lift than with a used model!

Rent a bath lift for short-term needs?

On the other hand, renting a bathtub lift can, under certain circumstances, prove to be a practical and inexpensive alternative to buying it. This is the case, for example, when an illness is not associated with a permanent, but only with a temporary restriction of mobility. Because even in this case you don’t want to miss out on enjoying a relaxed bath in the bath for months, of course. However, the acquisition costs of a higher quality model are then in no relation to the useful life.

When renting a bathtub lift, the cost-benefit ratio is better: Only around 15 to 40 euros per month are charged, and you can even rent the aid on a daily basis at many specialist shops in the sanitary and rehabilitation sector. In most cases, however, you have to shell out a one-time flat fee for the provision of more expensive devices, which can be up to 300 euros, depending on the new price of the device.
